Ashton Kutcher to Host Twitter's Reality TV Show

San Francisco, CA, July 13, 2009 -- Yesterday saw the surprising announcement that Twitter has brought Ashton Kutcher onboard to host its upcoming reality TV show. The show, Thy Tweeting Twit, is planned to debut this fall on FOX and will be direct sent from a location yet to be determined somewhere in the county of Warwickshire, England.

To tweet or not to tweet, that is the questionTo tweet or not to tweet, that is the question

What made this announcement surprising is that Twitter has been denying they were planning to make a reality TV show since May of this year and released a barrage of corporate tweets that there were no plans on the horizon. The second shock was that the tweeter at the top of the heap, aplusk (Ashton Kutcher himself), had threatened to stop tweeting if Twitter made a reality TV program.

Despite both parties backtracking on their previous statements, it is now full speed ahead. Gus Snuffaluffa, the executive producer of Thy Tweeting Twit, said, "In this day and age of immediate information there is no need to bring up what was said or threatened in the past. If it's not a trending topic, it's not news and therefore it's not important."

According to Mr. Snuffaluffa, the premise of the show is to, "take reality television to the next level by combining the most popular form of mass entertainment with the latest technology and a dash of Elizabethan era humor."

The show will choose 12 modern bards to live in a rural English community with the intention of pulling Elizabethan-age pranks on the unsuspecting townfolk. They are expected to tweet about their activities with the goal of increasing the amount their respective Twitter following with one bard being eliminated each week until one remains and is declared to be "Thy Top Tweeting Twit".

For his part, Prince Kutcher, donning his finest doublet, separate sleeves, breeches, ruff and cloak at the press conference, proclaimed:

To tweet or not to tweet, that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler on the Internets to suffer
The #hashtags and followers of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of trending topics,
And by opposing, end them.

Twitter is a San Francisco-based, social networking site that provides a real-time short messaging service. Since its launch in March 2006 it has developed a global following of people sharing their thoughts ranging from breaking world news to updating friends on the minutiae of their life.

Ashton Kutcher produced and co-created reality TV shows like Beauty and the Geek and Punk'd as well as starred onscreen in Dude, Where's My Car?, amongst other films. On April 16, 2009, Kutcher became the first Twitter user to have more than 1 million followers despite doing nothing of major importance over the last year other than keeping his name in the headlines.
